Bailiff and enforcement-agent law in England and Wales
Most taking-control action is governed by Schedule 12, the Taking Control of Goods Regulations, the Fees Regulations and CPR Parts 84 and 85. Separate regimes apply to evictions and some court officers.
Authority, notice and entry depend on the warrant, writ, liability order or other power. Only the debtor's relevant interest in non-exempt goods may generally be controlled.
A defect does not automatically void every later step or guarantee repayment, damages or costs. Complaints, fee assessment, third-party claims, appeals, stays and civil claims are distinct routes.
