Magistrates' court fine enforcement: key facts
Court fines use a distinct enforcement regime. Obtain the case, collection order, payments, warrant and balance. If proceedings were unknown, ask urgently about a statutory declaration.
A court-fine warrant can carry entry powers different from ordinary civil debt. Ask for the precise authority and do not rely on general claims that forced entry is never possible.
Payment terms, deductions, goods, fees, vulnerability and complaints require different procedures. A request to the court does not itself stop enforcement.
