Moved home: notices and bailiff enforcement
Moving home does not extinguish the debt or automatically invalidate a warrant, writ or liability order. The questions are whether notice was properly given, the correct period elapsed and a debt-specific challenge remains available.
Tell the creditor, court and enforcement company the correct correspondence address unless a legal adviser recommends a protective arrangement. Retain proof of moving dates, redirection records, envelopes and electronic notices.
An old address can be material evidence but does not guarantee that enforcement or fees are void. Use the procedure applicable to the debt and request a written hold while it is considered.
